Tuesday Night’s World Cup Best Bets And Preview

There are plenty of ‘dead rubbers’ to be played in Tuesday night’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers but we take a look at three of the games with plenty riding on them and we’ve got best bets for the matches involving France v Belarus, Netherlands v Sweden and Portugal v Switzerland…

Tuesday 10th October, 7.45pm – Group A: France v Belarus

France are assured of making the play-offs at the very least and they will finish top of Group A if they match Sweden’s result on Tuesday night. A win would appear to be straightforward despite Les Bleus’ stuttering form as Belarus have won just one game in qualifying, losing all four away matches and conceding ten goals in the process.

Belarus have lost their past three on the road without scoring a single goal and we’re backing France to get the job done with a 3-0 win in the correct score bracket (5/1 with Betfred).

Tuesday 10th October, 7.45pm – Group A: Netherlands v Sweden

Sweden need to better France’s result on the night to finish top of Group A and they are all but assured of finishing second at worst as Netherlands need to win by a margin of seven goals or more to finish ahead of the Swedes.

The Dutch have to go in search of goals in a match that often provides entertainment, with their past five meetings producing 20 goals in total. Both teams have scored in each of the previous five clashes and that bet is 8/15 to land again (Bet 365).

The hosts will again be looking to Arjen Robben to inspire them as he has been at the heart of everything they do going forward and he was influential during the win in Belarus on Saturday. Robben has scored nine goals in his past ten international outings, including five in five appearances on home soil, and he is 13/10 to score at anytime (Bet 365).

Tuesday 10th October, 7.45pm – Group B: Portugal v Switzerland

Finally, Switzerland and Portugal are guaranteed to finish in the top-two in Group B but top spot is still up for grabs. The Swiss, who are yet to drop a point, will finish top of they win or draw, while the Portuguese will nick first place on goal difference if they win.

The Portuguese are a skinny 4/6 for victory but they lost 2-0 at Switzerland last year and they laboured during their 2-0 win over Andorra at the weekend as only the second-half introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo inspired them following a goalless first-half.

They might have to be patient again as eight of their last eleven goals in qualifying have arrived in the second-half and a well organised Switzerland side are capable of frustrating them, with B365 going 6/5 about a half-time draw.
