The Market Leaders
Having previously been played as an alternate to the WGC Match Play, the OHL Classic was moved to the autumn as part of the wraparound PGA Tour season in 2013 and there has been an increase in the quality of players as a result.
Rickie Fowler tees up for the first time this year and he is a 9/1 favourite for his maiden outing of the campaign, while the defending champion Pat Perez can be backed at 16/1 after winning the CIMB Classic recently.
US PGA Championship runner-up Patrick Reed is available at 22/1 ahead of his debut on the course, although we prefer to seek out a bit of value with players who have shown form at this venue.
Indeed, Kevin Streelman is very much a ‘horse for the course’ as he is four-from-four visits, securing top-four finishes in 2009 and 2016. The 38-year-old, who has won two titles on the PGA Tour in his career, is an excellent tee-to-green player and that should serve him well as he bids to build on the couple of top-fifteens he has secured so far this season.
Tip #1: Kevin Streelman (each way) @ 55/1 with Betfred.
Meanwhile, Luke List has opened the new campaign with three top-20s and the 32-year-old should really enjoy playing in Mexico. List ranked 14th on the PGA Tour for greens in regulation percentage – which is a statistic that has been a key determinant of performance in this tournament previously – and he did tie for 7th at the OHL Classic in 2016.
Tip #2: Luke List (each way) @ 40/1 with Unibet.
Charles Howell III is searching for a first PGA Tour win since securing his second title in 2007 but he is someone who can offer each-way value at El Camaleon Golf Club, where he has secured six top-20s in eight visits, boasting a scoring average of 68.80 in the process.
Tip #3: Charles Howell III (each way) @ 50/1 with Unibet.com.
Finally, Brice Garnett has really come of age on the Web.com Tour this year as he has picked up two wins during a fine campaign and the 35-year-old has previous at the OHL Classic, finishing 6th in 2014 and 7th in 2016. Garnett appears to be finding his touch and looks decent value at a triple-figure price.
Tip #4: Brice Garnett (each way) @ 125/1 with Betfred.
