Jeremy Kyle has reportedly asked his children’s former nanny, Vicky Burton, to be his wife.
The ITV talk show host popped the question and asked Vicky to be his wife number three last weekend.
According to reports, Jeremy, 52, asked her during a romantic trip to the Grenadines Islands in the Caribbean.
“He chose the Grenadines because it’s a very romantic place and they’re ecstatically happy,” a source told The Sun .
“Both sets of families are absolutely chuffed for them.”
Short lived first marriage
The chat show host met his first wife Kirsty Rowley back in 1988, when he was working as a recruitment consultant in an agency in Bristol, reports the Mirror.
He won her over with his impression of Frank Spencer from the hit sitcom Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em, it was claimed.
They were engaged within two months and had a traditional white wedding a year later at her family home near Bristol.
But wedded bliss didn’t last long and on honeymoon in the Maldives Kirsty chucked her wedding ring into the sea after a row.
It all came to an end in 1990, shortly after the birth of his first child Harriet.
Kirsty later claimed that Jeremy had taken money from her bank account without her permission to fund his gambling habit.
She claimed that during their short marriage, Jeremy kept a gambling addiction secret from her.
She said Jeremy had frittered away £70,000 and had previously run up £4,500 debts at the bookies and on betting phone lines.
“The man I married wouldn’t have been out of place as a guest on his own show,” she said.
Jeremy also spoke about the addiction – which he eventually overcame – in his 2009 book I’m Only Being Honest.
He wrote: “Gambling is the mistress that truly seduced me. I will never understand what a hit of heroin feels like, but gambling I get. Big time.”
Jeremy’s second failed marriage
In 1999, Jeremy met model Carla Germaine. They met when she applied to be part of a contest on his radio show, which saw her marrying a fellow caller for a short period of time.
After her marriage failed, Jeremy married Carla in 2002 and they went on to have two daughters and a son together.
During their marriage, the ITV star was struck with testicular cancer. He had one of his testicles removed and successfully beat the disease.
After 13 years of marriage, the couple decided to go their separate ways and Carla filed for divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour”.
A statement said at the time: “After 13 years of a generally happy marriage my wife and I, Carla, have separated amicably.
“We have sadly grown apart over recent years and been living apart since earlier this summer.”
The former Birmingham radio DJ’s ex Carla Germaine has said she knew nothing about the romance and is angry she wasn’t told sooner – especially as she said she and Vicky were “best friends”.
“Jeremy sees a very happy future with Vicky. They’re really enjoying each other’s company,” the source added.
“The wedding is likely to take place in Barbados, with the ceremony or reception at Jeremy’s home.
“Barbados is their sanctuary and was the place they could first be together openly.
“It’s where they were able enjoy themselves as a new couple in love rather than staying hidden away from the public eye.”
After the relationship became public, Carla claims she didn’t know – and she was reportedly furious with her ex-husband.
“What about our children? Why would he let it go public?” she said.
“I’ve got our three children to protect and this was their nanny.
“There are moral boundaries and integrity. My priority is my children.”
Third time lucky?
Vicky was pictured alongside Jeremy, his wife Carla and two of their three kids on holiday in Barbados in July 2013.
Jeremy and Carla later split and divorced last February – and the romance with Vicky is his first since the 13-year marriage ended.
Vicky looked after Carla and Jeremy’s three children – Alice, 12, Ava, 12 and seven-year-old Henry.
News of the romance has fascinated viewers of The Jeremy Kyle Show in which Jeremy addresses relationship dilemmas in front of the camera.
He has helped hundreds of warring partners face up to their problems since the ITV show launched a decade ago.
Now it seems his own life could form the basis for a show – two marriages, a gambling addiction and now… a love story.
Jeremy announced he and second wife Carla had broken up 18 months ago, saying said they had “separated amicably” after growing apart.
