The Match Betting
Atletico were utterly abject during the first leg at The Bernabeu last week as they were undone by a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo again and it is hard to imagine them being so poor again on home soil, where they have won 29 of their 35 games in UEFA competition (drawn four, lost two).
Bank On Goals
It is Real Madrid who hold all of the aces having previously beaten Atletico in the 2014 and 2016 Champions League finals and they are now closing in on their third final in four years.
Zinedine Zidane’s men are bidding to become the first team to retain the Champions League title since the tournament was rebranded in 1992 and it bodes well that they are unbeaten in this season’s competition (won eight drawn two).
However, they have only kept one clean sheet in the tournament this season and they simply aren’t a team who are capable of sitting back to defend a lead.
They have scored in 60 consecutive matches in all competitions and over 2.5 goals is a very decent option for this game (4/5 with Betfair). It is a bet that has paid out in all eleven of their Champions League matches this season and it looks like a banker for us, with Atletico in desperate need of goals and an attack-minded Real looking far from certain at the back.
Ronaldo To Strike
Cristiano Ronaldo will be relishing the opportunity to take on Atletico as he has scored 21 goals in 28 games against them, including successive hat-tricks as he notched all three league goals in a 3-0 league win at the Vicente Calderon in November before eviscerating Atletico in last week’s first leg.
Ronaldo is 25/1 to score another hat-trick (Boylesports) and he is 7/2 to score first after notching eight goals in his last three Champions League outings.
