Manchester City host Tottenham this Saturday, in a game which is somewhat of a must win for both clubs. Guardiola will certainly feel that the honeymoon period is over at City, and he will certainly be under pressure to get a result at home, while Pochettino will know that Spurs have to win to keep the pressure on league leaders Chelsea
- Tottenham have won last 3 meetings with Manchester City, scoring 8 goals in the process
- Tottenham can currently boast the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 14 goals
- Manchester City have lost 2 of their last 3 Premier League matches

City’s Slow Starts
Pep Guardiola’s City are not currently enjoying the best of times, and in part this could be due to some of their sluggish openings.
Manchester City have conceded 7 goals in the first 15 minutes of matches, more than any other team in the Premier League this season, and Guardiola will know his side have to start with much more gusto against a high energy Tottenham team.
In contrast, Tottenham have the joint best record for goals in the first 15 minutes, already hitting 5 this season, and they will feel they will be able to get at City from the get go.
If you fancy Tottenham to get off to a dream start you can back them to take the lead in the first 15 minutes at 15/2 with Coral.
With so much at stake it is likely the game will become cagey to backing a close encounter should be good value.
If you fancy the scores to be tied after 60 minutes, you can back that at 6/4 with Coral, after 75 minutes at 15/8 with Ladbrokes, and you can even back the match to finish as a draw at 5/2 with BetVictor
There is a danger that Tottenham’s rigid defensive organisation could cancel out Manchester City’s attacking prowess, and so backing a close encounter looks a good bet.
In normal circumstances you’d feel that both teams would be relatively happy with a draw, but with league leaders Chelsea in such good form, both teams know they have to win to keep within touching distance, so there may be slightly more attacking impetus than normal.
If you fancy City to edge things, you can get a 1-0 at 17/2 with PaddyPower, or a 2-1 at 8/1 with Betfred, however, if its Tottenham you’re backing to snatch the victory, you can get a 0-1 at 12/1 with BetVictor
