|Bayern Munich v Arsenal|
| Bayern Win And Both Teams To Score
|@ 2 / 1||
Bayern have knocked Arsenal out at the round-of-sixteen stage three times previously, in 2005, 2013 and 2014, so it is no surprise to see that the Bundesliga leaders are 1/2 favourites for Tuesday’s match at the Allianz Arena.
Arsenal head to Germany as 11/2 underdogs (Bet Victor) and it is not hard to see why as they haven’t made the quarter-finals of the Champions League since 2010, losing each of their previous six last-sixteen ties on aggregate in the process.
Both Teams To Score
Wenger’s side have again flattered to deceive this season as a brief flirtation with a tilt at the Premier League title has given way to another race for a top-four finish, while finishing top of Group A ahead of Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t appear to have benefitted them in the knockout stages as they again face Bayern Munich, who finished runners up to Atletico Madrid in their group.
Bayern are far from infallible under Carlo Ancelotti though as the Bundesliga leaders have been getting the job done rather than blowing teams away this season and Arsenal are 8/13 to cover a +2 goal advantage in the handicap market (Betway).
The Gunners can take comfort from the fact they have scored in each of their last seventeen away games in all competitions, with both teams scoring in thirteen of those, and there is the promise of goals on Wednesday.
Arsenal have scored in ten Champions League away fixtures on the bounce since 2014, although they have conceded in each of the past seven, and it is the Bayern win combined with both teams to score which is a stand out bet at 2/1 (BetVictor.com).
Bayern Too Strong
Arsenal have scored in each of their last four matches played at Bayern but the German champions have won fifteen Champions League games in a row at the Allianz Arena and they are not to be trifled with.
Robert Lewandowski is the obvious threat after scoring 30 goals in 33 appearances for club and country this season, and the Polish striker is 5/2 to be first goalscorer after notching five in his last four appearances on home soil.
Meanwhile, the out-of-sorts Thomas Muller is 6/1 to open the scoring after notching four goals in the last six Bayern Munich v Arsenal fixtures, although it is the 2-1 home win which catches our eye in the correct score bracket (15/2 with Bet Victor).
